Guerrieri Academic Commons

The Guerrieri Academic Commons is the academic heart of the Salisbury University campus, and the location of SU’s Main Library and the Nabb Research Center.

The location of SU’s main library, The Guerrieri Academic Commons is a place to study, master the art of research, collaborate, borrow a laptop, cram for an exam, work on a project, get a book, and meet friends.  For the humanities and social sciences, it serves as a laboratory.  It is SU’s academic commons: a center for learning, discovery, and interaction.

Units in the GAC

The GAC is the home of many academic departments that support learning and research across the SU campus.

SU Libraries

The SU Libraries’ main library operates on the first, second, and third floors of the GAC. The first floor is where you will find the Library Service Desk, library staff offices, library classrooms, some of our collections (current periodicals, leisure reading material, DVDs, and more), as well as the SU Libraries MakerLab. On the second floor, students, faculty, and staff can take advantage of 13 reservable group study rooms. The third floor contains the bulk of the library's book and journal collections.

Information Technology (IT Help Desk)

The IT Help Desk is a physical location where students, faculty, staff, retirees, alumni, and guests of Salisbury University can go for assistance with technology issues and requests.

The IT Help Desk is located on the first floor of the GAC.

Center for Student Achievement

The mission of the Center for Student Achievement (CSA) is to support every college student on their journey to academic success—from the first year to senior year and beyond. Whether you're adjusting to college-level coursework, looking to sharpen your study strategies, or aiming to reach your full academic potential, they're here to help.

The entrance to the CSA is near the main elevators on the second floor of the GAC.

Instructional Design & Delivery

The Office of Instructional Design & Delivery (ID&D) supports the instructional design and delivery needs of faculty engaged in teaching and learning of online, hybrid, and traditional courses. To this end, professional development and support is provided for effective pedagogical practices and instructional software.

Math Emporium

Located on the second floor of the Guerrieri Academic Commons, the Math Emporium offers free tutoring for 100 and 200 level math courses.

Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (OURCA)

OURCA cultivates a vibrant environment of undergraduate scholarship through supporting faculty-student mentorship and provides resources to give every student the support to begin, conduct, and present research.

TRIO Student Support Services

Salisbury University's TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is an educational opportunity project that helps first-generation students, students with financial need, and students with disabilities achieve their academic potential and personal goals.

TRIO is located inside the Center for Student Achievement. Enter from the main CSA doors near the main elevators on the second floor of the GAC, then turn left.

University Writing Center (UWC)

The University Writing Center is a place where you can meet with trained peer consultants to work on your papers and projects at any stage of the writing process.

Edward H. Nabb Research Center

The Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury University is a humanities research laboratory for university students that also fulfills the historical resource needs of a variety of community researchers. Founded in 1982, it was endowed in 1998 by Edward H. Nabb, an attorney and philanthropist from Cambridge, Maryland and renamed in his honor. It is located on the fourth floor of the Guerrieri Academic Commons.

Patricia R. Guerrieri

The Academic Commons is named for Patricia R. Guerrieri, an SU alumna who, as a student, was known for her vivacious personality, athletic prowess, and generous nature.  An omnivorous reader, she instilled a love of learning in her children, and three of them attended the campus elementary school. (The Academic Commons is located on the site of that former building.) The Guerrieri Family Foundation donated $8 million for the building and library collections.

GAC Building Access

Please note that the GAC requires a Gull Card to enter during certain hours. Visitors without a Gull Card, including SU alumni and members of other USMAI institutions, are welcome to enter the building during the GAC's Visitor Access Hours.
