We are so excited to welcome you to SU and have you become part of the Sea Gull family! Orientation for new students is a multi-step process. Please follow the steps below, designed to help you successfully transition to the Flock!
Complete your housing contract by May 31. For you to move to the next step, you will need to complete this or request an exemption through the form if you are planning to commute from home.
You can complete your Housing Contract through your Future Sea Gull Portal.
Starting in April 2026 you will be able to complete your Orientation Registration & Survey. Completing your Registration Survey will assist your Academic Advisor in creating your first semester schedule. At the end of the survey, you will select an available Sea Gull Start-Up date.
Orientation Registration & Survey will become available in April. Students will receive email communication when it is live. Students will register through their when it is available.
Once you submit your orientation registration and survey, you will receive a registration confirmation email containing the information you need to attend your Sea Gull Start-Up Session.
Participation in both Sea Gull Start-Up & First Flight is required for all new students. All new students will have the mandatory, non-refundable, Orientation fee added to their fall semester bill.
Make sure you are staying up to date with your . Your portal will be updated regularly with many new things for you to do and complete. Some of these include completing your required training before the start of the semester.
As part of completing your orientation survey and registering for Orientation, students will select a date to attend a Sea Gull Start-Up session. Academic Advising Team members and Orientation Staff members will guide new students and families through informative sessions and will make sure all of your questions can be answered. Please note: Sea Gull Start-Up is required for all new students (first year and transfer) to participate in.

Students beginning in the spring semester will take part in a combined version of Sea Gull Start-Up & First Flight called January Orientation. The program will offer components on Sea Gull Start-Up in the afternoon of move-in day and will provide components of First Flight throughout the weekend leading up to the first day of classes.
